Looking After Your Conservatory Furniture...

How Can I Keep My Furniture in Good Condition?

One of the reasons that we love conservatories so much is that they allow us to enjoy one of Britain's most elusive luxury - sunshine! Picking comfortable and attractive conservatory furniture is the obvious way to maximise this enjoyment but it leaves us with one issue - sun fading.

Sun fading is inevitable for any furniture placed in conservatories, but there are steps that you can take to minimise it's effect:

*** Conservatory Blinds are the most comprehensive method of protecting the contents of your conservatory from the sun. They also have the added benefit that they afford you additional privacy, especially when using your conservatory at night time! Thomas Sanderson are the nations leading supplier of Conservatory Blinds, so visit their website for more information or to request their brochure.

*** The use of furniture throws is a good alternative to conservatory blinds. While they will not provide the same level of protection as blinds, they will help to prevent dirt and stains on the cushions.

*** Make sure you move your furniture around and turn cushions regularly. This means that all area's of the furniture will fade more equally and the effect is diminished.

How Should I Clean My Furniture?

FRAMEWORK:

For regular cleaning, you will be fine to simply wipe the Cane framework with a damp cloth. Occasional use of furniture polish will help to keep your furniture looking great, but stay away from heavy duty cleaners that may bleach the rattan or strip the finish/varnish from the furniture.

CUSHIONS:

This will vary depending upon the manufacturer, but generally you will need to dry clean your cushions. You can normally dry clean the whole cushion, but we recommend that you find a supplier that offers removable cushion covers.

All Haddon House Furniture cushions are not only sourced in the UK to meet safety regulations, but they are all loose and so can be dry cleaned. Better still, Haddon House offer the option to upgrade to removable cushion covers on many of their ranges, so cleaning is easier still! Request Haddon House Furniture brochure?

Further Help and Advice Caring for your Conservatory Furniture...

Rattan is a sturdy material and as such cane conservatory furniture is durable. HOWEVER - it is important that when you are moving your furniture around, you should lift and not drag it. By dragging the furniture you run the risk of putting too much stress on vulnerable area's such as the joints and the legs. This may result in the cane work splitting or the binding breaking away.

Please remember that although cane conservatory furniture is lightweight in comparison to most other furniture, you should always exercise due caution when lifting furniture to avoid physical injury.
